In today’s down economy when everyone is cutting back, the family vacation does not have to go on the chopping block. More and more families are discovering value-packed alternatives to traditional vacation plans by turning to vacation rentals.
The Rose family from New Jersey takes a Florida vacation every year. They used to fly down to Fort Lauderdale and stay in a standard hotel. The average cost for a one-week beach vacation for this family of four including airfare, lodging, meals, rental car and extras was about $ 6,850. But this year they ditched the hotel for a vacation rental apartment in nearby Pompano Beach, a safe, family-oriented oceanfront community on the North side of Fort Lauderdale, and they saved a bundle.
